Team Fortress 2 is Now Free. Forever.

Free Damn It

The latest update to the ever popular Team Fortress 2 promised us something bigger than ever before and it just landed. Team Fortress 2 is now free forever. There was a time when when I would have to explain how Team Fortress 2 is the by far the most balanced, hilarious and rewarding multiplayer game of all time. I no longer have to explain this because it is now free. Free as in click this link right here and you can download and start playing as soon as it’s done. Go now and then check out the new Meet the Medic Trailer and my thoughts on the matter after the jump.

Team Fortress 2 has slowly been introducing microtransactions over the last year and is finally at the point where it’s these sales that are supporting the game. This, however, is microtransacting done right. Random item drops can still give all players access to any of the paid items gradually while plenty more can be earned through achievements, crafting and trading. Meanwhile all the characters, maps, modes and base weapons, which are still balanced to put up just as much of a fight as any of the unlockables, are all free. Valve has just pretty much put all free to play games to shame in one fell swoop.

That said THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND I DEMAND THE €15 I PAID FOR IT FOUR YEARS AGO BACK.

I do like how it is F2P as it should give more people a chance to play it even though it has been at ridiculous prices in Steam sales. If you bought the game you get a premium account which gives you more storage space and others things which is kinda good. One thing I do like about Valve’s micro-transactions as said here is that you can find them in the game. The problem I have is when you have to buy them.
